In today’s Chic Files feature I’m presenting someone very special to me. Over the past a little over a year since I started blogging, I’ve met, sort of speaking, a few extraordinary people. Natalia from Fashioned by Love is one of them. She is my very dear friend, one I had the feeling I’ve known forever since the first time we exchanged comments on each other’s blogs. She’s not only very talented, her writing skills are worth gracing the pages of the best fashion magazines, with fantastic knowledge and an acute sense of fashion, but a beautiful lady and an inspiring and wonderful person too. If you are not familiar with her blog yet you’ve been missing on a lot. I have no doubt it will fashion your life just as it does mine. Welcome, Natalia!
How would you describe your style? I’d say it’s feminine classic.
Who are your style models? I’m inspired by clothes and life experiences rather than women, even the most beautiful and stylish ones. I’m fascinated by Parisiennes because they know how to tame fashion.
Your signature day outfit. Dark blue jeans, white shirt, chunky heel, trench and a tote bag or Ledbury.
Your signature evening outfit. Classic dress, high heel pumps or sandals and a clutch.
Is there an item you don’t leave the house without? Sunglasses, even if it’s cloudy.:)
Your favourite wardrobe item? I actually have a few, but if I have to pick one, then it’ll be Taffy Diane von Furstenberg broderie Anglaise blue dress from Spring 2006.
5 items a woman should have in her closet. Dark blue jeans, white shirt, little (black, blue, red or whatever colour looks best on you) dress, trench coat, pumps.
What is the most underrated piece in a woman’s wardrobe that should deserve more attention? I absolutely agree with Claire – I also think that great hosiery (tights or stockings) is absolutely essential and can transform the outfit as well as the shape of your legs. I also believe that Italians make the best hosiery.
{Michael Kors dress, Tommy Hilfiger cardigan, Carvela ankle boots} and he is Oscar
Can you choose from these?
Flats or heels? Heels.
The 50s, the 60s or the 70s? Definitely, the 50s.
Leopard print or snakeskin print? Leopard, but only as a shoe.
Lace or velvet? Lace, in moderation.
Knee or mid-calf length? Knee-length.
Audrey or Marilyn? Audrey.
The LBD or DVF dress? DVF.
Paris or Milan? Paris. I feel very happy in Paris.
Hermès Birkin or Chanel 2.55? Classic 2.55
A style quote you live by: “Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.” Cecile Beaton
